Rohullah's Blog Writing Narrative Assessment

Learners: Rohullah                                                                       Learning Coach: DWilkes
Learning Area: Literacy     Vision Principle: Capable & Connected         Date: Term 3&4
Learning Observed
Rohullah began blogging in Term 3.  His blog has various posts on a diverse range of topics and he also has a number of comments from his blog buddy and other classmates.  We spent time learning to write quality comments using a ‘comment sandwich’ and Rohullah is developing his capability to do this on his blog buddy’s blog and thus connect authentically with other learners.  Rohullah’s posts are evidence of how he connects with the things in which he enjoys, whether at home or at school.  He has learned to embed images into his posts which enhance their readability.  Rohullah has enjoyed reading our Learning Habitat 1 blog as well and collaborating to construct some posts with his hapu group.  It has been fantastic to review Rohullah’s posts since the beginning of term 3 to see how his capability at writing is improving. Some posts of interest were his ‘Family vs Friends’ and 'Clash of Clans' posts because his passion and values are evident. I would now encourage Rohullah to co-construct blog posts over the holidays with his family and continue to visit his classmates blogs and leave comments.

  • label or ‘tag’ each post so they are searchable in the future
  • preview the post before publishing to ensure the images are the most appropriate size
  • proofread each post by reading it out loud, to a buddy at school or a parent at home to develop capabilities at catching punctuation and grammatical errors
  • ensure the quantity and quality of each post are up to standard (aiming for a minimum of 6 quality sentences)
  • continue to practice using the comment sandwich to provide feed forward to classmates
  • respond to all comments on his post regularly
  • write comments on every learning story his Learning Coaches post

Anonymous

                                                                     Anonymous
Anonymous is a group of hackers that hack into famous companies. Only one person started hacking then told a group of people lets start hacking. These people are very dangerous. They get arrested then when they get out of prison they start hacking again. The reason they are dangerous is because they kill people and hurt people. Police have been chasing them down. When people see the crew they either take photos of the crew and some people call the police cause they look scary

Ormiston Primary School touch.

                              Ormiston Primary school touch
On Tuesday 20th October Mr Mcneil chose 12 people to go to interschool touch. I got chose to go and we went my friends got chose . We did not go in a car we walked to Mission Heights junior college . When we got there we got told our place to sit. The first team we versed was Sancta Maria Primary. We lost but we tried our best to win. Next up was Riverina primary.  I scored a try pretty much but the referee said it was not a try . I think if I scored that try it would of been cool because I dived to score. Also Henry scored a try because our team mated were collaborating and passing to each other. Final team we versed was a team that I don't know  they were so fast that every second they would intercept it from us and I would start chasing them so hard that I thought I was Usain Bolt.

Robot Wars Narrative

Learner: Rohullah                                                          Date: September 2015
Learning Area:        iExperience - Robot Wars               Learning Coach:    John Dyer
Learning Observed
Over a course of 6 sessions, Rohullah took part in a Science and Technology challenge. The aim was to design and make an electronic robot using a variety of materials including a button cell battery and a mobile phone buzzer. Rohullah collaborated with other learners as they decided that the ‘Ormibots’ (as they became affectionately known) would compete in categories of speed, strength and good looks!

Rohullah worked with Richard and Shaun to create the most deadly moving weapon the world had ever seen! Initial challenges faced were finding ways to combine the motor and battery to good effect. Rohullah helped his group to problem solve and redraft plans in order to overcome difficulties and compete well in the Ormibot challenge.
Evidence of learning

It may look harmless but it is rumoured that the Ormibot pictured is faster than a speeding bullet and stronger that cryptonite!

Rohullah claims to be the brains behind the whole project!

Key Competencies/Vision Principles being demonstrated

Thinking - Making sense of information, experiences and ideas.
Using language, symbols, and texts - Making sense of words, numbers and images.
Managing self - knowing when to lead, when to follow and when to act independently.
Relating to others - Interacting effectively in a range of contexts.
Participating and contributing - Being actively involved in school and the community

Rohullah needs to take time in the planning stage of his work and ensure he has clear direction with what he wants to achieve. He also needs to reflect further on his work in order to greater understand concepts in technology and across the curriculum.

A recent iExplore combined learning around the properties of baking soda and how we can apply this to a baking context. Rohullah made observations of the reaction that occurs between baking soda which is a base and vinegar which is an acid. He made predictions about what would happen and enjoyed seeing the chemical reaction occur as vinegary goodness shot into the air!

Rohullah then teamed up with Rahi in a My Kitchen Rules Extravaganza, with teams pitting their wits against each other to produce the world’s greatest ‘Cake in a Cup’ Rohullah was able to follow instructions and use creativity to make and decorate his masterpiece.

The end result was scientific understanding, real life application and a final dose of Yum! I can confirm that there was nothing left in the bowl at the end.
Evidence of Learning

Voila! Chocolate cake a la Rohullah and Rahi, who is also telling us that he had 2 servings!

Well done boys. You collaborated well and demonstrated that you are capable Masterchefs!

FAMILY VS FRIENDS

             FAMILY VS FRIENDS
We should always choose our family/parents instead of our friends because if our parents tell us to do something will you rather go out with your friends or do what your parents told you to do. I would go and do the work that your parents told you. The reason I because your parents buy you stuff and take care of you . Your friends would not buy you stuff or maybe not take care of you. I all ways help my parents then go out with my friends

CLASH OF CLANS

            CLASH OF CLANS
Clash of clans also known as c o c. It is one of the most popular games on earth. I really like it. Nearly all my friends at Ormiston Primary have the app. What you do in the game is attack but before that you train troops and you also have to defend your base. I am really good at Clash of clans. There are 10 town halls I am town hall 9. You can also create a clan and tell your friends to join. I am in the 7th best clan in NZ. There  is something called loot. If you do not know what loot is I will tell loot is gold and elixir you need loot to upgrade your stuff. In the chat area you can receive troops by requesting. You also have to donate troops to other people or else the clan leader will kick you out of the clan. I donate lots of troops because I do not want to be kicked out of the 7th best clan in NZ. You really need to upgrade your town hall because if you have a maxed base you can not go any further.

Rahi & Rohullah - Author's Purpose Learning Story

Learner: Rahi & Rohullah     Learning Coach: T.Dillner            Date: 3.9.15
Learning Area: Literacy - Author’s Purpose
Learning Observed
Rahi and Rohullah attended a literacy workshop which was aimed at one of the Learning Progressions that each learner has on their Learning Pathway. We were looking specifically at how an author might use features on the cover and spine, in the blurb and in the text. The learners had to work together to analyse a text and identify why the author included these features and what they told the viewer about the text.
Rahi and Rohullah worked as a group on a variety of novels, connecting how the author may have used features that were the same or different on each text. They showed an increased capability in this when talking together about how the cover image, title, blurb and first page gave an idea of the theme and the author’s purpose. As they collaborated, each of the boys were able to extend their own knowledge by building on it with the ideas of the other group members.
Evidence of learning

Next Learning Steps
  • Finish a Best Fit Novel and analyse the Author’s Purpose after reading the entire book.
  • Record this analysis either in writing, video or audio.
  • Upload this as evidence in their Literacy Learning Pathways.

Digitise It Learning Story - August 2015

Learner: Justin V & Rohullah                                                     Learning Coach: DWilkes
Date: August 2015                                                                       Learning Area:  Science
Learning Observed
This term the LH1 learners have been learning about animals, adaptations and habitats.  They were fortunate enough to go on a field trip to the zoo where the live cheetahs captured the curiosity of Rohullah and Justin.  The learners were instructed that they needed to create a habitat that would be suitable for an animal of their choice or creation.  The boys opted for the ‘Digitize It’ option knowing that they wanted to design the cheetah habitat in Minecraft and demonstrate their capability at using it.  They went through a rigorous design process that involved connecting with information through researching to create a fact file on the cheetah, drawing a draft diagram of what the habitat would look like and then creating it in a digital tool of their choosing.  Justin and Rohullah collaborated very well- taking turns, listening to each other and asking questions.  They also assisted other learners who were using Minecraft.  When it was time to share their learning, the boys presented their cheetah habitat confidently to all of the Learning Coaches and learners in LH1.  You can see their assessment here.
Evidence of learning
Justin & Rohullah share their Cheetah Habitat in Minecraft

Next Learning Steps

  • write a reflective blog post about their learning and share with parents
  • create a product of their learning eg. iMovie to show their Minecraft to others
  • create a more detailed diagram with labels that is represented in their final product

FIFA 16

Fifa 16
Fifa 16 is going to be realised on September 22,2015.It is a very popular game. When I was researching about and 50% of people said they are buying it.Fifa 16 is a soccer game what you do in the game is pick a team then if you are playing by yourself then you pick a team you are versing  then you play the main point of the game is scoring goals. If it is a tie then you get choices the choices are golden goal that is if you score a goal the team that  scored wins. There is other options the other option is classic that is whenever you score you have to wait till the game is ended the final option is penalties is a goalie vs player whoever wins the game ends.
